| Nate Champion was considered by the
large cattle barons to be a rustler. That is a cattle thief. He was killed just outside Kaycee along with his friend Nick Raye by
cattle barons during the Johnson County Cattle War of 1892. He
was a homesteader trying to get a start and both sides of this war
had a legitimate complaint. Located on
the first floor of the Mansion House, the Nate Champion Room has a
king bed and a bath shower combination. in a comfortable bathroom.
Wood floors, area rugs, period furniture
with room for lounging compliment this 105 year old room. Air
conditioning has been installed for summer months. Winter time
heat is provided by the old reliable boiler. |
